Fitting a door is the easy part. Keeping it inside its force limits for the next ten years, and being able to prove it on the day someone asks, is the job.

Install

New automatic doors, or an opener fitted to the door you already have.

We survey the entrance, recommend the right operator for the footfall and the people using it, and fit sliding, swing and low-energy systems from the major manufacturers. An existing manual door can usually be converted rather than replaced, which is the quickest and cheapest route to meeting your duty under the Equality Act 2010.

A conversion keeps the door, the frame and the finish you already have. It is less disruption on a live site, less waste into a skip, and it is often the difference between an accessible entrance this month and an accessible entrance next financial year.

Maintain

Servicing, repairs and call-outs on every make, whoever fitted it.

Belts wear, sensors drift and closing forces creep up without anyone noticing, until the door hurts someone or stops. Planned servicing catches these early. When something does fail, you get an experienced engineer who has seen that fault before, with common parts carried in the van.

Most of what goes wrong on a powered door announces itself weeks ahead: a change in the sound of the belt, a leaf that hesitates on approach, a hold-open time that has quietly drifted. Those are cheap to put right while they are still symptoms.

03Report

Report

A written record after every visit, measured against the current standard.

Every service and inspection ends with a report: what we tested, the force readings we measured, what passed, what needs attention and by when. It is the document your insurer, your auditor and the Building Safety Act golden thread all expect you to have, and it is the reason the word is in our name.

A report is only worth having if it is specific. Ours records the actual numbers off the gauge, not a tick in a box, so that next year you can see whether a door is drifting and act before it fails.

    Kinetic energy limit for a moving leafWe measure closing force with a calibrated gauge accurate to 10 N. For a swing door that means at least three seconds from closed to 80 degrees.

    Minimum detection distanceThe door must see a person at least a metre away, and 1.5 m on an escape route, so it is fully open in time. We test with the standard CA and CB test bodies.
  • 8mm

    Finger and body gapsGaps must be closed, kept under 8 mm, or opened beyond 25 mm. Anything in between gets a guard, a rubber profile or a sensor.
  • 5s

    Opening on a power failureSliding doors on escape routes must open within five seconds and stay open, so the entrance does not become the thing that traps people.
  • 150N

    Manual force on a dead doorWith the power off, a swing door has to be openable by hand with no more than 150 N. If it needs a shoulder, it fails.
  • 3s

    Closed to 80 degreesThe floor for a low-energy swing door. Anything quicker and the leaf is carrying more energy than a person can safely absorb.
